OUR APPROACH
Writing standards, not promises
A letter can make a difficult conversation clearer. It cannot control another person’s response, choice, or timeline.
What each letter is designed to do
Each draft is built around the writer’s actual situation, intended message, and preferred tone. The aim is clarity: owning your part where appropriate, expressing what matters, and leaving room for the other person’s autonomy.
What this service does not do
It does not promise reconciliation, a reply, forgiveness, or any particular relationship outcome. It does not provide therapy, legal advice, crisis support, or help with harassment, coercion, deception, threats, or bypassing a stated request for no contact.
Personal voice comes first
Samples on this site are examples of structure and tone, not scripts to copy. A useful letter contains details only the two people involved would recognize and should still sound natural when read aloud by the person sending it.
Privacy and restraint
Only share information needed to understand the request. Do not send passwords, payment details, or private information about another person that is not relevant to the letter. When a situation involves safety, abuse, self-harm, or an immediate crisis, contact an appropriate local professional or emergency service instead of relying on a letter.
How to use the guides
The guides offer practical communication frameworks. They are not diagnoses or universal rules. Use them to decide what you can say responsibly, then adapt the language to your own circumstances.
